2024 Flag Football
Join us for six Tuesday nights under the lights! Sign up for a favorite fall activity in Edina where the emphasis is on FUN! Here are the program details:
Opening night: Tuesday, August 27, 2024. Games from 4:30-8:30pm.
Regular Season: Tuesday nights: September 3, September 10, September 17, September 24 and October 1.
Playoff Sunday: October 6th. Games from Noon - 5 p.m.
Championship Tuesday: October 8. Games at 6:00pm and 7:00pm.
Please note before registering:
- There will be no refunds
- We will do our absolute best to honor ONE MUTUAL friend request but it is not guaranteed.
- Teams will be capped to ensure play time for all girls.
- Based on parent feedback from last year teams are:
- 4th grade
- Mixed 5/6
- Mixed 7/8
- Mixed 9-12
Typically, the one hour games are as follows (subject to change):
4:30 pm: 4th grade only
5:30 pm: 5th/6th grade
6:30 pm: 5th/6th grade
7:30 pm: 7th/8th grade
8:30 pm: 7th/8th and 9th-12th
Cost: $110 - pay by credit card or Edina Community Connection Card.
This program depends on parent volunteer coaches. Please consider coaching your daughter's team. You can sign up to coach as part of the registration process.

EGAA Junior Board Opportunity
The EGAA is looking for four to six 10th and 11th graders to join the EGAA Junior Board starting in June 2024. Recruitment period is April-May for a June to June term.
Responsibilities:
1-2 volunteer hours/month
Managing social media accounts
Promoting the EGAA
One year commitment

Letter from our President
Welcome to the 49th year of the Edina Girls Athletic Association!
The Edina Girls Athletic Association (EGAA) proudly offers programs for girls who live in Edina or attend Edina schools. The programs--Flag Football, Volleyball and Run Club--are designed to promote skill building, friendships, and a lifelong love of staying active. The EGAA believes that participation in sports teaches girls commitment, respect for others and sportsmanship. Physical activity and competition enhance the mental, psychological and spiritual health of all girls and young women.
Our focus is on our participating athletes, so each year we recognize and award 3-5 senior high school girls with academic scholarships. These awards are given to players who demonstrate good sportsmanship, have achieved academic success, and are involved in extracurricular activities at school and in their community.
EGAA is a non-profit organization driven by 15 volunteer Board members who plan, organize and run the athletic programs. We also provide a learning Board opportunity to high school juniors and seniors! We are so grateful for the many parents, siblings, and family friends that volunteer time to serve as coaches for the teams. In 2024 we need 4-6 new members to join the Board so we can continue to offer these recreational sports programs.
Board members are dedicated to improving the programs and opportunities we provide the girls in the community. We meet monthly, share ideas, collaborate on program details and deliver programs we are proud of, and the girls enjoy! Join us! Mission Statement
The Edina Girls Athletic Association mission:
- Will educate girls in the skills, rules and strategy of recreational sports which will carry through into adulthood;
- will build character by encouraging good sportsmanship, teamwork, and self-confidence;
- will offer team experiences for girls regardless of ability;
- will promote healthy physical activity; and
- will encourage each participant to have fun.
EGAA History
The formation of the Edina Girls Athletic Association began in January 1974. As the community saw the need for team sports for girls, the Edina Park And Recreation Department invited people to attend meeting and discuss the girls sports.
These visionaries formed a volunteer board. During the summer of 1974, bylaws were written, policies and procedures were formulated. Thus, the Edina Girls Athletic Association was born, then incorporated in January 1975.
